Welcome to Year 5 & Year 6

Miss Thompson - Assistant Headteacher and Phase Leader

5IK - Miss Kay and Mrs Wilson

5HH - Mr Hawker and Mrs Schofield

6IK - Miss Kitchman and Mrs Iveson

We have two classes in year 5 who are taught by Miss Kay and Mr Hawker. in Year 6, Miss Kitchman is the main class teacher but the class is split in a morning and Miss Thompson also teaches some of the Year 6 children.

Welcome to Year 5!

Currently, we are working very hard to become the best class role models we can be whilst developing our resilience, resect and responsibility. We have lots of opportunities to have first hand experiences of learning both in and out of the classroom. We have lots of discussions about our emotions and experiences in our daily circles, where we build our classroom ethos and community.

We enjoy using a wide variety of class texts to enable us to discuss issues around friendship, fairness, equality, leadership and the impact our actions have on others.

We are trying really hard to develop our sense of responsibility in taking care of ourselves. We would really appreciate your support, please, in being responsible for ensuring that we are prepared for PE by coming to school in our kits on Mondays and Fridays.

Reading is very important all the way through school and in Year 5, the children are expected to take responsibility for their own home reading books. Please encourage your children to read each day and to remember to bring their home reading book into school. This ensures that we are becoming the best readers we can possibly be!

If you would like to see what we have been up to in year 5, please have a look on class seesaw blogs and our Twitter! @wansbeckyear5

Welcome to Year 6!

Currently, we are working very hard to become the best class role models we can be whilst fulfilling our roles as ambassadors for the school. We have lots of opportunities within our curriculum to develop our leadership skills, within our school and the wider community. Our Year 6s will all earn a leadership role within school which they will write speeches for and read to an audience.

We enjoy using a wide variety of class texts to enable us to discuss issues around friendship, fairness, equality, leadership and the impact our actions have on others.

As it is our final year in primary school, we are trying really hard to develop our sense of responsibility in taking care of ourselves – please make sure you support us in being responsible for ensuring you have your PE kit in school all week.
