The Burrows Nurture Provision

Within our Burrow nurture provision, we strive to provide a bespoke and nurturing provision, with an enriched curriculum which targets the individual academic, social and emotional needs of the children.

This class integrates important life skills to prepare them for life beyond school into their curriculum. The class size is kept to a maximum of up to ten children to enable more 1:1 learning and targeted support for children who’s needs are more complex and require a different, bespoke and kinaesthetic learning experience.

We have a structured and busy morning which includes core subjects such as Reading, Writing, Phonics and Maths, which challenge the children through our engaging and multi-sensory curriculum. This is a part time provision and in an afternoon the children are integrated within their main class with support.

The Burrows Resource Base

The burrows resource base is funded by the local authority and caters for Key stage 1 children. The burrows base aims to provide bespoke support to children unable to access a mainstream school. It is a continuous provision style learning environment and aims to enhance children’s speech, language and communication skills as well as meeting their social and emotional developmental needs. This unit has a sensory room to promote emotional regulation and help to meet the pupils sensory needs. Out provision follows the TEACCH system which is designed to teach the children in a way that make the most of their strengths and works around their areas of challenge, whilst providing an engaging curriculum with bespoke interventions based on the pupils individual EHCP targets and identified needs.
