Lower Key Stage 2

Welcome to Lower Key Stage 2.

  • Class 3 –  Mrs Clixby and Miss Durrans

  • Class 3/4H – Mrs Hill and Miss Kelly

  • Class 4K – Miss Kitchman and Miss Durrans

Within out phase we have 3 classes. Class 3 is a year 3 class taught by Mrs Clixby and Miss Durrans; 34H is a mixed year groups class of year 3 and 4 taught by Mrs Hill and Mis Kelly and 4IK is a year 4 class taught by Miss Kitchman and Miss Durrans.

In Lower Key Stage Two, we work hard on continuing to develop each child’s social, emotional and academic skills. W do this through our curriculum work and through fostering each child’s curiosity and engagement in their learning.

Out mornings are very busy and comprise of the following lessons: spelling, guided reading (and phonics for the children who benefit most from this), Reading, SPaG, Literacy and Maths. Whilst in an afternoon we complete lessons and work that challenge the children in a wide range of lessons such as; PE, RE, PSHE, Science, ICT, Music, Spanish and Topic (which covers History, Geogrpahy, Art and D&T based around a theme).

We thrive to ensure that all children can succeed with their learning whilst also gaining skills that will help them as they continue to grow and develop through Key Stage Two and beyond.

As a phase we think it is very important that the children continue to further develop and build on friendships and continue to have wider experiences with these children as they transition from Key Stage One to Key Stage Two.

Just like they did in Key Stage One we think it is very important that the children are getting the opportunity to read 3 or more times a week, and where possible with an older sibling or member of the family. We also encourage children to start to take more responsibility for their home reading books, however, we would appreciate your support in helping the children return these back to school.
