Lower Key Stage 2

Welcome to Lower Key Stage 2.

  • Class 3H –  Mrs Hill and Miss Durrans

  • Class 4K – Miss Kitchman and Mrs Atkinson

  • Class 4W – Miss Wood and Mr Clayton

In our phase we have 3 classes. Class 3H is taught by Mrs Hill and Miss Durrans; 4K is taught by Miss Kitchman and Mrs Atkinson and 4W is taught by Miss Wood and Mr Clayton.

In Key Stage Two, we work hard on continuing to develop each child’s social, emotional, and academic skills. We do this through our curriculum work and through fostering each child’s curiosity and engagement in their learning.

Our mornings are very busy and comprise of completing core subjects which include: Reading, Maths, Literacy, SPaG, and Phonics. Whilst in the afternoon we complete lessons and work that challenge the children based on our engaging curriculum.

We thrive to ensure that all children can succeed with their learning whilst also gaining skills that will help them as they continue to grow and develop through Key Stage Two and beyond.

We are also focussed on ensuring that the children build brilliant friendships and have fantastic wider experiences through this year as it is an important transition from Key Stage One to Key Stage Two.

As a phase we think it is very important that the children are getting the opportunity to read 3 or more times a week, and where possible with an older sibling or member of the family. We are encouraging the children to take responsibility for their home reading books, however, we would appreciate your support in helping the children return these back to school.

On top of this we are expecting the children in Year 4 (and later in the school year, Year 3) to be accessing and regularly practicing their times tables using Times Tables Rockstars in preparation for the Year 4 test later in the year.

Please check SeeSaw regularly to see posts from each class showing a variety of work and activities completed in class.
