Wansbeck Wonders

Wansbeck Wonders

Part of our Character Curriculum is better known as our ‘Wansbeck Wonders’. Our Wansbeck Wonders are a set of activities and experiences that we provide for all children throughout their time at Wansbeck. The activities and experiences are in place to allow children to be able to have real-life experiences in which they can apply and implement their core values and character traits.

Our Wansbeck Wonders include activities such as:

  • Look after a pet
  • Make a picnic for a trip
  • Learn to swim
  • Attend a theatrical performance
  • Visit a museum
  • Visit the capital city

Our 50 wonders are spread across each phase from FS1 to Year 6. Each year, we aim to provide the experiences for each child to be able to use as building blocks for putting our core values and character traits into practise.

Portfolios

We aim to ensure that children embark on an exciting journey with us right from their first days in F1 to leaving in Y6. The children evidence all of their Wansbeck Wonders in a portfolio. This is a space allowing children to reflect upon the activities they complete. It follows the child through the school so that each year, and when they leave, they can reflect on the character skills they have learned and improved on.

Our portfolios allow us to see how we have put our core values and character traits into practise, using them in real-life situations that will help us to influence our path for the journey during our time at Wansbeck and beyond.

Take a look at the some of the ways we have put our core values into practise at school:
