Wider experiences
Clubs
As well as our Wansbeck Wonders and Sporting events, we have a range of wider experiences at Wansbeck through our clubs, put on by our staff throughout the year. Our clubs are well-attended by children of each year group and are changed termly in order to provide a range of different activities and interests to inspire.
Here are some of the clubs we have provided this year.

There is also the opportunity for children to run their own clubs at lunchtimes too! Our children have run dance, crochet & reading clubs, amongst others.
Trips
Trips are an important part of our curriculum and are incorporated into our curriculum plans termly to allow for children to become immersed in the topics they are learning. Our trips may also form part of our Wansbeck Wonders, as they provide an opportunity for children to show our core values and character traits in the community and wider world.
Follow our whole school and class Twitter pages to see some of our latest trips!
In EYFS & KS1, we focus on the local community and ensure children are taken to trips around our local area. This provides our youngest children with more understanding of the world around them, the community they are part of and the city in which they live. Some of the trips that children in these year groups experience are to the:
- Local Farm
- Town Centre (e.g. theatre / museum)
- Seaside (Bridlington / Hornsea)
In KS2, we begin to embark on trips a little further afield. We start to visit places within Hull and other surrounding cities/towns within our region. This allows us to prepare for our residential trip and trip to the capital, London, in Year 6. Some of the trips that children experience in these year groups are to:
- Leisure centre (for swimming lessons)
- A museum in another city
- An immersive historical experience (e.g. Eden Camp)
- Residential (Y6)
- London (Y6)
